Description:
The Meran Hotel was built in the years 1895 - 1906 by the Hájek family on a narrow building site originally considered unsuitable for a hotel structure. Despite of this prejudice, it has become one of the most remarkable architectural sights of the Wenceslas Square, together with the adjacent Evropa Hotel. After the decease of Mr. Hájek - Father in 1937, the hotel was passed to the hands of Son and Dughter, the inheritors, aged two and three respectively
During the Nazi occupation in Word War II, the hotel was a German property under the name of the LUNA Hotel. The war ended, the property was restituted to the Hájek family with its original name of the MERAN HOTEL. Nationalized in 1954, the Meran Hotel under its name disappeared, merged with the Evropa Hotel.
