Our hotel has a superb location in Londynska Street, Vinohrady, within a pleasant walking distance (7 min.) to the central square of Prague - Wenceslas Square, close to many other tourist attractions, and just 5 minute walk to the metro stations Namesti Miru and I.P.Pavlova. Vinohrady ranks among the most popular residential districts of Prague with a perfect infrastructure, plenty of quality restaurants, bars, and shops, and excellent access to the city centre and also, major highways. Such location will be much appreciated by those who prefer to stay close to the city centre, but away from the noise of the traffic and those who like to feel the history of beautifully reconstructed buildings, surrounded by greenery and calm.
Apart-Karee Residence is situated in one of such completely reconstructed historical buildings. The hotel was given every modern facility and comfort of our age, yet with respect to the historical style of the building. Many lovely historical details, such as stone stairs, paintings on the ceiling and walls, and, of course, the elegant building facade were preserved.
Area information:
Vinohrady is a beautiful residential area of Prague that carries a reputation of prestige and elegance. Most of its grand Neo-Renaissance, Art Nouveau, Pseudo Baroque, and Neo-Gothic buildings come from the second half of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century, and many have been and continue to be restored in an amazing array of colour and architectural detail.
History of Vinohrady:
The name “Vinohrady” means “vineyard”. The area was indeed covered with vineyards starting in the 14th century when Czech King Charles IV had them planted there, right around the time when he had the New Town built. The vineyards lasted for some four hundred years and were later replaced by rose gardens, orchads, and residential buildings. An independent community of Vinohrady was established in 1849, encompassing the area of today’s Vinohrady and Zizkov. The area was divided into Kralovske Vinohrady (Royal Vinohrady) and Zizkov in 1875. Kralovske Vinohrady received the status of a city in 1879. Kralovske Vinohrady was incorporated into Greater Prague as a district in 1922 and its name has shortened to Vinohrady in 1968.

Namesti Miru (Peace Square):
This is a pleasant square dominated by the Church of St. Ludmila. In front of the church is a large, nicely landscaped central area with many benches, where you can sit and relax. Besides the Church of St. Ludmila, the beautiful Vinohrady Theatre and the National House of Vinohrady are also located on Namesti Miru.
Church of St. Ludmila
The Neo-Gothic Church of St. Ludmila (Kostel sv. Ludmily), a two-tower basilica from 1888-1893, dominates the Namesti Miru Square. Many renowned artists of the time worked on the interior and exterior of the church, including sculptor Josef Vaclav Myslbek, author of the statue of St. Wenceslas on Wenceslas Square and the sculptures in the Vysehrad park.
Vinohrady Theatre
On Namesti Miru 7, there is a majestic Art Nouveau building of the Vinohrady Theatre (Divadlo na Vinohradech), one of Prague’s oldest and most reputable theaters. It opened in 1907.
National House of Vinohrady
The Neo-Renaissance National House of Vinohrady (Vinohradsky Narodni Dum) stands at Namesti Miru 9. It dates back to 1893-1894 and was designed by architect Antonin Turek. The building has served as the seat of various organizations and corporations.
